Also not strictly correct, as time spent in employment within any EU/EFTA state may count too (you'll need to check the provisions. I'm not 100% sure of the details). So any employment in the UK prior to moving to CH would count toward the minimum one year employment target.

ETA: FMF was too quick... again.
But it would be 12/18 months based on her UK salary surely which maybe a little less than a Zurich salary....

So, where does Switzerland and England fit into all of this. EU, EEA, non-EU, non-EEA etc.

The UK (as of the time of writing) is in the EU and the EEA.
Switzerland is in EFTA but not the EEA.

Only the last 6 months count for the insured salary calculation, unless the last 12 months works in your favor.

Depending on the eligibility based in the OPs previous posts, plus the domicile regarding spelling of the previous posters posts.

Re: Just had a pretty terrible experience. Really need some advice.

If you are eligible to unemployment benefits (which you will be only if your recent employment in your previous country counts), then you might be able to stay here, even on a lower income, while you figure out what to do next.

Once way to cut your costs might be to sub-let just one of the bedrooms, i.e. take in someone to share the flat while you are still living there. You could put a clause in the sub-let contract that the sub-let ends automatically when the main contract ends, and be very fair and clear about your situation. Many new folk arriving in Switzerland need a temporary base, and might be happy to rent out a room on a temporary basis.

No, insured salary is based on last 6 months earnings or last 12 months earnings if that gives a higher earnings.

Here when you move in, it is clean, you can live immediately without having to clean up the pubic hairs of the previous tennant.
Well, hopefully "pubic hairs" will turn-up an EF result in future

Don't get desperate. The rental market here is a seller's market. There are many people that look for months and can't a find a nice place. If your place is as nice as you described, there will be people lining up for it. As for the furniture, you can ask the future tenant whether he wants to take something, and then do a garage sale or donate the rest. EF is a good place to get rid of the furniture.
