Where to buy Verkehrsweiss RAL 9016 Weiss paint for walls

Hello,

I am looking to buy Verkehrsweiss RAL 9016 Weiss paint for interior walls and it's proving to be a headache. I have checked Migros, Jumbo and Coop (online) and they only have RAL R010. I have googled it and have only found stockists in Germany and they don't ship to Switzerland so I'm stumped.

I appreciate any help.

Cheers,

Sgt. Bilko

Nice little conundrum you could have it mixed but as there is no direct conversion from RAL to another standard it could be difficult, either you have it or you don´t, having said that you can ask a shop that mixes paint to mix you the correct color tone as a pantone, that would be in your case as close as it gets: Pantone 7541C. and go easy on the yellow. If I am correct then Verkehrsweiß would be C0, M0, Y4, K0. A dash of 2% C and you will have perfect white.

Skip cheap baumarkts, buy directly from the specialists who can ship and/or mix you exactly what you want. My last painter used Bosshard - http://www.bosshard-farben.ch/

However, RAL 9010 is the standard white, absolutely reasonable choice in any swiss apartment. Think twice, do you really need the colder RAL 9016?

Re: Where to buy Verkehrsweiss RAL 9016 Weiss paint for walls

Thanks for the reply people.. I should mention that the paint is needed to retouch some of the existing walls and the Landlord has told me it is RAL 9016. I am surprised how hard it is to obtain.

I could try to get someone to mix it but if it is off, then I would have to redo the entire walls which would be unnecessary. I'll contact bosshard and see if they have it. If not, I'll have to chance doing a mix.. wish me luck

Oh take it from me, that is a exercise in fruitility, you will never, ever get the colour exactly correct, fading, grime and age of the existing paint will be your nemesis. And there is nothing worst than patchy white, the human eye is great at detecting minute and I mean minute differences in neutral colours. Just take a picture off the wall and look at the difference of the paint behind the picture in different lighting conditions to see what I mean.

Gonna haveta do the lot.

They will have. The harder question which you will have to answer to the Bosshard folks is: What paint will you need? They have 9 kind of dispersion paint for interior walls

fir RAL 9016, you'll need to go to a professional paint supplier. They are not particularly set up for the general public, but certainly will have what you need.

Try:

You pay much more for a mix that still might not work -I agree with slammer, the age of the old paint will have affected its appearance. Our walls look just as good retouched with a standard white than as with the original You can try it and see, also, Coop used to sell tubes of colour concentrate which can be used to change the tinge of emulsions and are great for experimenting.

I agree, that older walls may have changed, making it impossible to match. Did the OP say her walls are older?

HOWEVER, in my experience of renovating three houses in Switzerland, the products from COOP, Migros and Hornbach are not the same quality, do not provide accurate colors, do not provide the same coverage and will cause a lot more problems, in the end. My previous house had a bomb shelter filled with partially used pots of paint, from them. Then, I discovered the places where painters bought their paint. It's not the same system, like in USA. ( i.e. Sherwin Williams)

If the OPs walls are relatively new, and the owner has specifically indicated RAL 9016, the easiest way is to purchase the same product ( brand) and color, and try the touch up. Even if she needs to pain the entire wall, it will most likely match the other walls.

My opinion, of course.

Re: Where to buy Verkehrsweiss RAL 9016 Weiss paint for walls

To match a paint colour I took a chip off the wall and went to Bau and Hobby where they have a scanner. I was able to buy a small container of the matching paint.

If the paint you are trying to match is very old the match is going to be difficult.

Simplest option might be to call the property manager's painter and ask him for a small amount of paint. Many painters use STO and I am not certain where to buy this at the retail level. My painter leaves me extra paint in a glass jar for emergencies.
