Replacement road mirror

Hi,

Our house faces a busy road. As you go out of the driveway because you can't see easily left or right we've got one of those square mirrors on a pole that let us see the road for traffic. Well last night some TWAT snapped it off for a laugh and chucked the broken mirror onto our Neighbour's lawn. While in the medium term I will find whoever did this and kill them, in the short term does anyone know the name for these and where you get them ? They are all the same (square with red and white striped plastic edge) and fixed to their mounting pole by a bolt and screws. I am assuming there is some swiss standard in play and a certain kind of shop or process is used to replace them.

Thanks
Mike

Re: Replacement road mirror

Aren´t these placed there by your city ? Ask them, maybe they will replace it (and you have no cost)

Re: Replacement road mirror

Is the mirrors yours or was it provided by the commune?

The German term is: "Verkehrsspiegel" cost less than CHF 100 up to CHF 2000
You will have to choose depending on distance to mirror, size, durability, and if ice free.

I'll call on Monday and find out, I had just assumed it was a personal cost we have never checked. If it is us and it does cost significantly I wonder if this will be on house insurance. I'll check and update the thread.

Thanks as always for the helpful responses all.

Here.

(Best way to kill him once you found him is by hitting him with the car when he walks by. This way you can claim it was his own fault )

Re: Replacement road mirror

I didn't realise these could be so cheap:
I could probably use one myself.

Re: Replacement road mirror

Here is one supplier based in Crissier (more or less across from the Aldi/Jumbo). They are called ELGA SA.

Their website is not the best but they are a major supplier of signs, supports, mirrors etc.
