Snow clearing noise on Sundays

We have bought a electric snow blower to clear off snow...however, if it snowed on a Sunday - would it be against the law to use it considering the noise levels (even if it does not make too much of a noise)?
I would assume that if you live in the mountains, it would be inevitable to have this machine...just wondering.

If you donít clear the snow, how are the police going to get to you to issue your fine?

I suggest if you donít do it in the middle of the night your neighbours wonít object. An electric is a lot quieter than a petrol powered one.

Re: Snow clearing noise on Sundays

I would think it is logical to use it even on a Sunday. But since this is Switzerland, you never know - hence the question. Maybe they expect you to use the shovel on a Sunday instead of the machine...

Why not ask the neighbours if they mind (and offer to clear theirs at the same time!)

As most things, depends on circumstances ... if it snows a lot on a Sunday, then you will have to clear it - if it has been snowing for days, and you leave the job to be done on Sunday- some may object.

Where I live, nobody would bat an eyelid- and if we are away, one of our lovely neighbours would just keep going up the road and clear our drive too.

After a heavy snowfall, our Commune starts clearing the stuff around 03.30! Just another example of the disadvantages of snow!!!

best is to ask your commune for the regulations about what they call in French "baise cette neige" ;-)

edit: I realize now that it is an electric one. Ours works on gasoline and makes a lot of noise. Nevertheless, I would use it anytime it's needed.

Snow can be cleared every day of the week.

Here in ZŁrich near city (but with very small streets), the roads are cleared in the middle of the night. I'd call the Gemeinde to ask.

Ha! I thought this, too! That phrase means something pretty vulgar to me.
