Re: Youth/Student Hostels around Zuric?

I know Swiss people traveling to South Africa to do their pilot training because it is prohibitively expensive to do so in Europe, let alone Switzerland.

A night in a youth hostel around Zurich starts at about 40 USD for a bed in a dorm and goes up to about 100 USD or more for a single room (with no own bathroom). Obviously depends a bit on the dates you want to use it.

Re: Youth/Student Hostels around Zuric?

Tips are as a non-EU national you'll be last in the hiring queue since priority is given to Swiss/EU nationals. From the sounds of it you can't afford the training if you're looking at youth/student hostels to stay in.

Here's a very old thread re flying schools, don't know if it'll help much.

There's a wealth of info in the various sticky threads here on the forum. Start with these and then find the rest in the other sections.

That will make a difference, but you'd need to check if such accommodation will be acceptable to get a residence/student permit.

If you want to purse a career as a pilot finish your training in Florida. After which you'll have no problem finding a right seat position, but don't think it's going to pay $$. Still a very good career choice though.
