Receiving visit at my rented apartment

Hi everyone!
I have a really quick question that i hope you could answer me.

I have a rented apartment and my girlfriend has come to visit me from time to time from our home country. One time during 2 months as she had holidays.

Is that considered as breaking the contract as i'm the only one who figure on it? Or should i be able to receive visits as long as they don't actually live there?

Thanks a lot and have a nice Sunday evening!

Re: Receiving visit at my rented apartment

Information of the Mieterverband:

Q: "Meine Tante aus Amerika kommt für drei Monate zu Besuch. Muss ich das dem Vermieter melden?"

A: "Nein, sie ist Ihr Gast, solange sie keinen regelmässigen Beitrag an die Miete bezahlt."

Q: "My US aunt visits me for three month. Do I have to inform the landlord?"

A: "No, she is your guest as long as she is not paying rent to you regularly."

This information was given by the Mieterverband (renters association) and is therefore trustworthy.

Your girlfriend is free to visit you as long as she is not a subletter who pays. If she is a subletter, you would have to inform your landlord.

In your case, I guess she does not pay rent to you and therefore is a house guest. No problem.

Re: Receiving visit at my rented apartment

A girlfriend isn't an aunt, and maybe her homeland isn't America. So be careful. And what about paying rent to the OP, cash or in-kind? Would anybody notice? Maybe, if the in-kind thing is after 10:00 pm...

Just jokin'.

Is just jokin' on all your posts, or does it refer to this one?
if someone can stay in the apartment every night for 3 months, surely it doesn't matter if someone else (including girlfriend) stays intermittently?
I actually was wondering about this the other day as I have heard some water/heating bills are divided out per occupancy in the apartments. Would tenants from other apartments be annoyed if a single tenant often had guests and was not sharing these utilities equally?

If it is for months at a time, even more so if it happens more than once, I would inform the landlord. It doesn't hurt and if you have bünzli neighbours, you make sure that the landlord has heard it from you first.

I've never heard of that, ours are divided by floor space only, plus a bit more the higher the floor for the elevator maintenance.
