Inspection of holiday house in the Tessin

Dear Forum members,

We are considering buying a holiday house in the Tessin (very close to locarno). As it is small 35-year-old Tessiner house in the mountains, we would like to have someone (architect/agency) inspect the house to determine current state, build quality and what has to be done in the coming years. The real-estate agent offered to organize it but I'd rather have an independent person. Any recommendation for the Locarno/Ascona area?

Thanks - Stuart

Hi Stuart

I would contact these people who would probably be able to point you in the right direction. It is the Ticino Chamber for Real Estate.

Re: Inspection of holiday house in the Tessin

Hi Stuart
I live in Lugano & am currently having the outside of our typical Ticinese house fully renovated by a local architect within a family business. I can recommend him as the standard of works is exceptional (despite the heavy rain lately!). Stefano Regazzoni has also surveyed several properties for us in the last year and advised us on possible works etc. If you are interested please send me your telephone number & I will ask him to contact you.

Re: Inspection of holiday house in the Tessin

Thanks for your suggestion. At this point we have already found an independent party willing to survey the property. This person is part of the Schweizerische Immobilienschaetzer Verband - which is the association for these type of inspections.

When we buy the property it will surely need some renovation and then i'll gladly come back to you!

Thanks again.
