Well, most of us know what we are doing, and how to select a transformer appropriate for use.
I've been using transformers since I was 8 years old, and have never had one catch fire.
(a couple tube amps, sure, but that was usually due to bad capacitors, or arcing on crap circuit boards)
Anyway, why would you be running kitchen equipment when not at home?
