Cleaners when leaving an apartment Zurich

I'm said that when I leave my apartment in three months I have to pay for a cleaning company to do it professionally. Which is the level of responsibility the have in case the company owner of the apartment finds any fault? Thanks

Re: Cleaners when leaving an apartment Zurich

Don't listen to what people tell you when it comes to using whatever company, but look in your contract if there are any obligations.

If nothing is mentioned than you still are obligated to clean the apartment to it being as clean as the day you accepted it, you can do this yourself or hire a company to do so, if you hire a company ask for a guaranteed handover/handover certificate, meaning that if dirt is left it is financially on them. (or they have a cleaner there who fixes it right away).

Re: Cleaners when leaving an apartment Zurich

It is not as complicated as you think. Just get a company to clean it professionally for you as you can never clean it professionally by yourself. But also make sure that the company you choose ,gives you a handover guarantee which simply means that the company will clean up any faults your landlord might find on the day of inspection at "No Extra Costs".

I just had mine cleaned last month when i moved into a new apartment three weeks ago. The company was present on the day of inspection by the landlord to correct any cleaning errors which the landlord might find. Fortunately, the landlord did not find any faults with their cleaning.

Sent you a pm.

You can do it yourself. Many people do. Perhaps the people who chose to do it themselves but fail have lower standards than required here.

Well, at least you agree that some people fail in trying to clean it professionally. To the OP : : if you have all the time in the world to clean it yourself, you can give it a shot otherwise search for a reputable company to do it for you if you have better things to do with your time.

Goodluck

I think it also might be due that the first time people clean themselves they have no clue what all is expected from them, there is a difference between an oven being more than clean enough to use it properly and it looking like it was just installed, the last one is what is expected.

Re: Cleaners when leaving an apartment Zurich

Apart from my last one (I was too lazy and it was a huge 5.5 room thing) I cleaned all flats myself.
They might ask you to clean something better - that depends on what your own standard is.

When I hired a company last time, the deal was "you clean, you pass on the flat to the landlord" and the price was fix.
So on the day I was present but did not interfere. The landlord wanted something redone, the company did so immediately.

Everybody was happy in the end (I think. LOL. I was.)

Yes you can do it yourself. But if Swiss ( real Swiss ) take it over and find one gram of dirt then you can expect big trouble.

Well I guess that depends on how dirty it is before you have to clean it for the handover.

There have been posts on this forum about people not realising, for example that the cooker fan filters should be washed periodically
That's pretty gross after living in a place for a couple of years.

Stop fear mongering. #Nofearmongeringhere#

Well we cleaned my sons place and the next (to be) tenants found some small bit of dirt in a place under the sink. They wanted 300 CHF or they would not sign the handover. They were Swiss!

I think when you move you have many other worries and priorities than looking with a magnifying glass if there're any tiny spots of grease left after your own cleaning or whatever. This is one moment I would hire a company rather than doing it all by myself.

Re: Cleaners when leaving an apartment Zurich

When we left our rental apartment we had a cleaning company with a handover guarantee. Completely worth it as we were busy and stressed enough with our move. The representative from the cleaning company had to disassemble the (Miele) oven door, which was made of two pieces of smoked glass without a space between, to remove a tiny bit of grease which had somehow got into this non-gap. I would have felt quite nervous about dismantling flat fixtures, especially in the presence of the landlord's representative.

As a routine part of the cleaning, they had also opened up the "chimney" of the (Miele, extremely good) cooker hood to get rid of any grease that had got past the filters. Which we had of course removed and washed regularly during our time in the flat. And the landlord's representative did check that this had been done.

Funnily enough, the Swiss family we bought our house from had cleaned it to English standards (i.e. better not to look behind or under anything). Which was acceptable to us as the house was a renovation project. Although the area behind our cooker hood filters was *pretty disgusting*.

There's the worry, the time it takes, no guarantee etc etc etc but there are numerous posts on here which say you can't do it yourself which is simply not true and which is why I replied in the first place.

Whether one would want to is another matter.

We've done it twice now without a problem (the first time the agency remarked that they had never seen an apartment so clean after a handover) so it isn't such a big deal.

You deal with the landlord/agency, you do not deal with the new tenants on such.

And if it was so small you could have removed it right away.
