Bombi has no particular reputation at present
Is it legal not to give any apartments for rent in a newly build apartment building?

I recently passed by a newly build apartment house in Bellevue 1293 and it appears that not a single apartment in available for rent. There are 8 apartments in total and I really loved the building. I know that in my home country you have to have some apartments for rent in any building, so I am curious if it is the same case here?
Thank you for your help.

No. Absolutely not. You can build a 200 apartment building and keep them all to yourself.

May I ask what is your home country? Because I've never had contact with such a rule.

What do you mean, they are not for rent?

Does this mean they have already been rented? Or does it mean they are for sale only? Or does it mean the agent / owner has declined to discuss the matter with you?

Who says the owners may not rent the apartments after having bought them?

Maybe he is from Switzerland, heard they have this weird clause in their constitution:

Art. 74b https://www.admin.ch/opc/en/classifi...ndex.html#a75b
Quote:
1 No more than 20 per cent of the total stock of residential units and the gross residential floor area in any commune may be used as second homes.

2 The law shall require communes to publish their first home percentage plan and a detailed report on its implementation every year.
Maybe Bellevue GE is the smallest town in Switzerland with just one single building.

Bombi,

Most likely the 8 flats were already sold individually long before the building was complete. Or if the flats are owned by a single company/person, they may have also been rented out long before the building was complete (given the crazy rental market in the Geneva area).

Or maybe there aren't actually any flats in the building at all, but the building is an outer shell disguising the latest techno laser cyber reactor thingammyjg belonging to a James Bond baddie intent on taking over the world.

Stay well away from it.
