A parked van partially blocks my window

I live on a ground floor and there's a parking place just below my window. It is being rented out. There was no problem when there was a normal car or motorbike parked there, but now someone parks quite high van on it, which partially blocks my window: approximately 1/4 of the window is now blocked. Is it something I can bring up with the rental company, are there any regulations regarding this that I could refer to? There's nothing in my rental contract about it.

You could ask the Mieterverband but I´d guess that your chances aren´t that good. Unless it is a truck parking on a space meant for "personal cars" only

Friendly ask the owner, and that is where it legally ends.

Is there a company name on the van? You could try contacting them and asking if there's any chance their employee can park it somewhere else?

You might get lucky. Worst they can do is just say "no".

Re: A parked van partially blocks my window

If the parking space is part of a PPE then there may be some rules about what can be parked there. The size/type of the van might matter too (what category is it in?), but if the place is rented I suspect the owner is aware of all this; there might also be a rental contract in place which would not be too good for you.

But this is Switzerland where everybody complains so there's no reason not to try to make a fuss

Ask the Mieterverband if they could switch with somebody who has a lower vehicle.

I don't know the legal position, but this is one of those quality of life issues that most people will understand and want to resolve. You may be unlucky and get one of the minority who are assholes but as long as you behave reasonably yourself, and don't antagonise them, I'd expect them to understand and deal with it.

Re: A parked van partially blocks my window

Thanks everyone for the replies. After some detective work with my renters it was found out that it is an unauthorized parking by other tenants, who haven't purchased that parking spot, so the vehicle will be removed.
