What IDIOT would be talked into paying 12000 CHF to view a house.

Is that a rhetorical question ?

What is weird on having an agency handling the sale of your house if you don't feel like doing it yourself or already are out of the country and thus viewings and al such is just to much hassle?

The 12K is what makes it weird, the low price should also ring some bells, having an agency handling it is what I and many others did.
Would you just handle 300 grand just like that? I wouldnt trust nor buy a property if I dont even meet the owner, probably just me...

I have a work colleague who bought a house for an extremely low price. It does happen here and there. There is of course always a good reason behind the low price so due care is required. But that's the sort of thing you would discuss with the owner or agent and then do your research and decide if you can live with the problem that caused it.

That might be a medium sized red flag but the real big red flag is the charge for viewing.
