A friend of mine over stayed his Swiss visa by 2 years. After an attack of conscience he finally flew home - knowing that he faced a fine/exclusion or even imprisonment. At passport control, the office noted the overstay and merely said "don't do it again".

What's happening, Jett? Do you feel you're getting any closer to working out solutions?
I met up once with someone asking for help here. She was genuine, but very strange. Eventually she took offence and disappeared.

If you are ever in a truly awful situation and you ask for help I hope you are surrounded by kind empathetic people who will listen and help and not people like yourself.

??

The only sad thing concerning the situation is that the OP and his boyfriend are choosing to be illegal vagrants instead of returning to their countries and getting on with life as normal. But oh, the heartache, they'd have to - gulp- not see each other for a few months maybe while they sort everything out so that they can maybe become productive, responsible citizens.

It's also sad that you would pander to such nonsense when there are actually people out there in truly awful situations. OP is not one of them.

Not knowing how long your loved one has to live is truly awful, having worked as a palliative care nurse I have seen how life can change in an instant. No one asks to become ill, circumstances are outwith our control.Any how I wish you all a good day.

What has this got to do with getting a visa for wherever he needs one ?

We've all seen one way or another how life changes in an instant, accidents, death in the family, whatever else, you just may have seen a bit more, up closer, than everybody else, but then this was your job and i no doubt you had training to be detached, as far as it's possible, emotionally speaking.

I think the connection is here:

As with all posts on all fora, we don't know whether Jett's story is true just as told, or not. If it is true, then I really sympathise, because it must have been terrifying as life changed in an instant, and then exhausting to go through with what must have felt like one dismal strike of fate after the next. I would not like to be forced to walk that long mile in those moccasins.

Now, however, that his partner's health has stabilised, I hope they each go home to their separate countries, so as to exit the status "illegal" and get back into the status "legal resident of own country" and then I wish them all the best at picking up the pieces of their respective lives again, working hard and saving well, so they can be together again as soon as possible - legally.

I didn't get the impression that the treatment at HUG had been free. On the contrary.

This tallies with the HUG website information:
https://www.hug-ge.ch/en/you-are-dom...outside-geneva

If you are insured by an international or foreign insurance company, we suggest that you check the coverage and cost reimbursement before your hospital admission and request a guarantee of full reimbursement for your stay.
Failing that, to guarantee payment of your stay, we ask you to pay a deposit before your planned hospital admission.
The responsibility for payment of all hospital costs is yours and you will have to sign a consent document stating this.
Before your hospital admission, we recommend that you request a cost estimate for your hospitalization. Talk to your doctor who will ask the Rates and Customers Division at HUG (email: FinanciereTetC.Estimation@hcuge.ch)

Everyone who comes to the HUG(or any hospital) in a state of emergency/life threatening case, goes straight to ER.
After you are stable they will come to you to fill up this forms.
Now, if you come to the hospital to treat a headache, a finger cut... they will ask you documents and signatures before you get treated.
After all, if you are passed out or ill you cannot wait for them to put your details in a computer and ask you to sign forms.

After he was stable they did come to the room to ask him for his insurance information and signature.

Going pretty well.

Someone said we both want to be ILLEGAL here, and that's not the case. We do want to leave Switzerland, but wanted to see if someone could gives us a hand on ho to proceed.

Fortunately, as i mentioned before, a lawyer contacted us and we are now on the process of getting out of here soon, without me having to go back to Brazil(Thank god).

I'll be asking to have this thread closed. Even though i've got a lot of shitty comments. I do ignore them. I don't need negativity. They have a roof over their heads and do not need to worry if they will go to bed hungry every night.

Thank you for your support and kind words.

All the best,
Jett

Re: We Need Some Help!

I'm glad for you that you can just skip over the negative comments. Only the poster ever knows (and then sometimes even not) what motivates him/her to write as they do, whether good, bad, aggressive, critical, helpful, impatient, naive, disbelieving, questioning, grateful… whatever.

The threads on this forum are read by many, and often people learn from the answers to others' questions, in threads besides their own. Therefore, if you do decide to ask for this thread to be closed, would you please first share with us what the solution is? Thanks.

I wonder how you'll manage without going back to Brazil, for example. That sounds good, for you, since you specifically don't want to go there. I'm very surprised (but pleased for you) that some other option is opening up, thanks to that lawyer's help. If you would share what happened, in your case, might later help others who get into some kind of international predicament.
