Re: Importing furniture

Moving firm would be easiest or do it yourself. Paperwork shouldn't be too difficult for just the one item. Maybe see if EF member Confloozed can help.

Show the receipts at the border, pay the Swiss VAT, done.

Re: Importing furniture

I bought a sofa in NL a few years back and had a Dutch logistics company transport it to me and deal with the customs. Costed me a few hundred, but all in all I saved a (few) thousand on the sofa.

If you saved "a few thousand" on the sofa, either it was hell of a sofa that would have cost a similar landed price here or you are comparing high end NL stuff with Ikea

Re: Importing furniture

Plus shipping costs....doesn't amount to thousandS ! Hundreds possibly and then their is the hastle if it is wrong, delivered damaged etc etc.

I think the saving needs to be really big before going down this road, as Harie said, in the thousands to make any sense and this wasn't.

We've used Shiply before.

They are an online company that allows shipping companies to quote for your job.

If you go with it, make sure that you don't go by price alone but look at the customer reviews.
