Rent a house near a lake

What do you think, how much will it cost to rent a house like this one in Canada (perhaps not so big) near a lake with high speed internet?

Re: Rent a house near a lake

Is this your way of advertising prefab houses in Canada?

I don't like that house. It looks like the architect said: "let's use all the bits we have on one house".
Like Lego delivering 10 different types of windows but only 3 each. LOL.

Re: Rent a house near a lake

Mucho dinero, gringo.

Probably something like 8000-10000 pesos.

Incidentally, you realize that this forum is about Switzerland, right?

Without doubt more than a house not near a lake.

Between 5,000 and 100,000 a month depending on which lake and at which end

Next village to where we live, on Lake Geneva :

but it would be virtually impossible to compare with the house you have advertised

Agreed. I've never seen anything close to that type of architecture or finished style here. I'd be curious to know if you could even find one to rent - at any price.

A colleague wanted to build a large 'North American' style house. He interviewed many architects, but couldn't find one willing/able to build in the style he wanted. He then compromised on trying to build a moderate Swiss Landhaus - still no architect willing/able. (Altmodisch! they all cried...) He ended up with a soulless concrete box, the only thing it seems anyone builds anymore.

Such a shame, as the concrete box strikes a particularly jarring note on his otherwise beautiful piece of land. An 'altmodisch' house would have been lovely...

---

To the OP - what is your question trying to get at?

The single greatest factor in house pricing is not the style of home, nor even the size of the home, but rather the location. (Which canton, city, lake?) You won't get any sensible answers without giving more info.

If you are trying to compare housing standards between what is readily available in Canada/US vs Switzerland... you are in for a shock.

Many moons ago I did altmodisch. It was the selling point of the office I worked. We actually raided old houses being demolished for old Biberschwanz.

I will always associate this kind of houses with Nouveau riche who want to pretend they come from some kind of regal family, instead of being the son/daughter of some Swiss farmer who sold his land at the right time. No offence meant. Just very bad personal experience.

Next time you want something like that, send me a message I'm not picky with style.

Good to know there is still someone who builds what the client wants...

If I ever find that dream plot, and then beat the odds to win the bidding rounds, I'll keep this thread in mind. Two very big 'ifs', though.

But if I were to build a Canadian style house on a lake (albeit a log cabin would be my preference) I think I'd rather do so in Canada.

Lol, I'd definitely not pick such a judgemental architect.

To the OP,

I think the better image of the house is from a different angle, from down the lake. The way you made your photo, it literally doesn't make any sense. But anyway, I guess that wasn't the point here. The rent would be very high - starting with 5000 chf and ending at....who knows where. :-)
