Rental guarantee without bank deposit

https://www.swisscaution.ch/en/

If I read this right you pay a fixed CHF231 for whatever is left of the current calendar year (ie currently over 11 1/2 months), irrespective of amount. Anyone know if that is correct?

If you could link where exactly that is mentioned? Your link just leads to the website

Normally you pay for 12 months, regardless of when you start or pay a part for the rest of the calendar year and then the full year.

Moneyland.ch compares the costs of rental deposit insurers and noted this regarding Swisscaution:

"During the first calendar year (Swisscaution) policyholders are expected to pay a flat fee of 231 francs regardless of what month of the year the contract begins. After that, an insurance premium equal to 5% of the insured deposit is levied, along with a 20-franc administrative fee and stamp duties. If you were to take out a policy in October, you would pay 231 francs for just a few months of coverage."

The article notes:

"Over a two-year term, Helvetia and AXA are the most affordable policies at 420 francs each, followed by 3a Kaution (472.50 francs). SwissCaution would be the most expensive, at 710.50 francs."

For nearly 12 months though and with a large deposit that works out very cheap. So I could cancel Swisscaution end of year and pay the Mietkaution in cash then, couldn8217;t I?
