Giving notice .. Format of the dates ..

Daft question here.. When giving rental notice.. You send a letter and tell them you are leaving on xxx date ..

That date is the actual exit date yeah? Not the date on which the notice starts??

Re: Giving notice .. Format of the dates ..

As per contractual obligations, I wish to cancel my tenancy agreement as I am moving to a new apartment. I am giving X month(s) notice starting xxxx, leaving the apartment permanently on xxxx.

Re: Giving notice .. Format of the dates ..

It doesn't matter as such when you move out or when handover is to happen, that's usually arranged informally (phone, call them). The end date of the contract is what counts.

Search for "Musterbrief Wohnung kündigen" or similar if you need a template. You don't need to mention your reason(s).

Re: Giving notice .. Format of the dates ..

Thank Yous ..

I have plenty time .. Plus i'd be staying with same regie, we've spoken and agreed verbally everything.. Just when I actually wrote the letter I had a second thought.

So yeah I just basically wrote (in the local language) that I will be leaving on 31 June 2019 .. Pls confirm, inform us of exit procedures / visits and the usual nice closing formalities.
