I have been lurking here for some time, and this place is a cornucopia of info, so most of my questions have been answered by doing a little searching thru existing topics.

There is one thing that is puzzling me. We are moving from Basel to Geneva soon, and by looking at the rental apartment options, I see that almost all places are available immediately. Here in Basel places are available only a few months after you find one/sign the lease. Am I missing something or is the case really that you go see a place, like it, and if you manage to get it- just immediately move in?
