Temporary Address

Hey there,

Bit of a weird situation was wondering if I can get anyones advice!

I'm American/British here in Switzerland on a Type B permit. My employer has me on a couple 6 month rotations this year for external projects in Germany and Italy from which I return in October and have housing organized.

I have been renting a place in Zurich since I left and my landlord had to terminate my rental within the terms of the lease and I have to find new housing by June 1. Does anyone know of options for temporary housing or am I going to just have to scramble to find an open room somewhere that is willing to have a roommate who is never around? I'm struggling to find a time during the weeks to fly down to Zurich just to speak with people about open rooms didnt know if there were any other options.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Temporary Address

Do you need a full flat or just a room? How often are you returning? It might be cheaper to just do a flat share until October since you should be returning periodically and you still have to pay your Swiss insurance. Your roommates can make sure your mail is picked up and whatnot.

Re: Temporary Address

Does it have to be canton ZH?

If ZG is OK, this place in Baar might be what you are looking for:

According to a friend who lives there, there are a lot of residents who travel much of the time and just need a simple-ish place as an anchor. I *think* short term rentals might be possible, but you'd need to check. Added bonus: ZG taxes.
