Renting deposit account

Hi all,

I am going to move in Switzerland- Bern in September. I found a room that I am renting, but now I have to pay the deposit.
The landlord wasn't very helpful, she just sent me her account information where I should transfer the money of the deposit during these days, but I've read here in the forum that I need a blocked account for the deposit.

Question
Can someone open the account in my name and also do the payment? (I live outside the EU and it's impossible to be by person at the bank)
If someone can't do the procedures for me how long does it take to finish the procedures of creating a deposit account? (by knowing that I dont have a regular bank account neither in Switzerland)

Re: Renting deposit account

The landlady can open such an account in your name. It is SOP, all you have to do is to sign the application. After that you get the IBAN of the account and you should be able to easily transfer the funds from anywhere of the civilized world.

You might send the landlady the following link:
https://www.mieterverband.ch/mv/miet...sicherung.html

But you say room, not apartment. Is this a short term, temporary rental?

Time limited, but not actually short term. In this case insist on the rental deposit account on your name. And as said send her the mentioned link.
