Where do you get oil?

I'm moving into a new house, and don't know the neighbors... but need oil.

Where to people get oil from? (I'm in Kanton Aargau, Dottikon/Dintikon)

Heizoel24 seems to have a "request a price" option (i.e. you request a price and sellers can accept) which doesn't seem like a bad option in my case...

Any other sites I should be looking at?

Only saw once my building being refueled, I believe it was Migrol

I realize you said you don't know the neighbors, but this might be a good opportunity to introduce yourself and ask what they do.

The reason I bring this up is that the homeowners in our neighborhood buy as a group because we can get a much better price for a bulk purchase than what one could get as an individual. There might be such an arrangement among your neighbors.

Lots of neighborhoods do this, formally or informally.

(Our neighborhood usually buys from AVIA Mächler & Zürcher. I don't think they deliver to your area, but another AVIA affiliate might. Perhaps worth looking into.)

Another option is Landi. The stores should have a Heizöl price board, keep an eye on it, and ask the helpful staff their opinions of which way the price might swing.

Migrol and Coop are the main suppliers to check as they have the highest volumes (and most times the best prices).

You first need to know how many litres you will need. There is normally a dipstick that you can pull out to read the current level then deduct from the number on the top of the dipstick. That will get you pretty close. Don't depend on any "old" readout device near the tank. They are not very accurate.

There are three levels of oil and therefore price. As the sulphur level goes down (eco products) the price goes up a bit. Each company has their own names but you will see it quite clearly.

Heating oil is priced per 100 litres.

Both companies give you points on their fidelity card.

Take a jerry can with you and ask "might I borrow some oil?"...

I don't think this will work for me, but I'll try. I bought a block of flats, so my neighbors are (I'm guessing) relying on a groundskeeper to sort out the heating then pay a part of it.. maybe I'll try to figure out what company manages their flats.

I've been using the site for about 5 years. It always worked wonders for me, as their best price usually beats Migrol and Coop by several Rappen/l. I recommend it.

Landi is another possibility I think. We got ours from them the first couple of years, but I find Migrol more easy to work with. Since I have a Cumulus card and am a member I get notifications of oil price offers plus I get Cumulus points to spend on other things as well.
