| | Average flat rent price in Zurich
Hi, due to my imminent move to Zurich, I would like to know, based on your experiences, how much is the average rent for a 2 bedrooms flat in Zurich city and area around max 15 km.
Thanks.

The site to compare prices is comparis.
Further sites for finding a flat are homegate and alle-immobilien.
For short-term rentals, so you've got a roof over your head while you start your search, you could try ums, flatfox or airbnb, or look on homegate and alle-immobilien using the searchword "befristet" (which means "of limited duration") as those flats are usually easier to get, since most people are looking for permanent accommodation.
If you are arriving alone and willing to stay in shared accommodation, I recommend wg-zimmer.ch, and there, too, you can search for "befristet".
If you google "furnished apartment" (rather than flat) in Zurich, you will find services that provide serviced rooms, including linen and towels.

When I moved into Zurich I only looked for apartments that are under construction and would only allow tenants from the day we wanted to move in. Those apartments have very low competiton. Pro is the apartments are new with very high chance of getting it even without visiting it. Con is that you cannot view the apartment or know your future neighbours beforehand and have to rely on pictures. I took one of those apartment and have absolutely no regrets. I could be lucky though.

Where can I look for a long term? Any particular website? Or agency?

The reason I suggested short-term, to start with, is that there is a huge demand for flats, and unless you are extremely lucky, it will take a while to find one. Therefore, many people who move here first stay in temporary accommodation for a while, and look around, and apply, apply, apply for flats, until they're offered a contract. Exception: at the very top end of the scale.

As a rough guide, for a 2 bedroom, which will be a 3/3.5 room flat probably
Youll be looking at 2.5-3k CHF thats very rough. Of course it could go up from there
The bigger issue is find a place. It can be difficult here. And keep in mind the tax and health insurance could vary from where you live, so maybe you could afford more in one area if it means cheaper health insurance, the same vise versa

There are far away areas with express trains that can take you to the main station in very short time (e.g. Uster), while much closer areas might be server only by tram or bus resulting in longer commuting times... this affects not only your daily schedule but also prices, more than distance on the map. "15 km" can be anything. Of course if you are a remote SW programmer you probably won't care, but for most people it's a game-changer parameter.
In addition, you ask for average but prices can vary A LOT depending on the actual location and condition of the property. A 2 bedroom flat can be 1500 CHF/month 10 km from Zurich in a building from 1950, or 4500 CHF/month in Hottingen (close to Stadelhofen) in a recent property. The average is 3000 but I don't think that number will really help you.
So, you will have to do some research on your own, and understand what you really need, want and can afford. Start with comparis.ch or homegate.ch, invest an afternoon or evening in getting a feeling of the prices and the locations, then start contacting the renters.
