Relocating to Zurich

Hey folks,

Soon I will move from Geneva to Zurich and I would love some insight. I still haven't decided if I want a flat in the center or a bit off it. Do you have any suggestion which areas are nicer to live? For example, in Geneva I would avoid Paquis ....

Re: Relocating to Zurich

Depends what you want, a newly built with all the amenties or something old ?

Depends on the size and your budget and the area .

You are living in Geneva, so you are used to a huge pricetag....

I would say avoid Schwamendingen (Kreis 12) and the Kreis 4 (Langstrasse Area), the rest is determind by your budget and your needs (for example minergie style flat, own washing machine/tumbler, floor heating).

Re: Relocating to Zurich

I live around Schwamendingen (Kreis 12), it is a cheap place to live so there are lots of foreigners. If you have children planning for good school, you may have to evaluate the location. Otherwise, it is a convenient and safe place, and nothing to worry about the location.

I previously also worked around the Kreis 4 (Langstrasse Area). It is a bit chaos to me. My bag has been stolen while eating in a resturant...

Depends on your home, family and work situation, plus your social life expectations and budget. We had one neighbour move out because it cost him 50- every time he missed the last train home, which was a couple of times a week.
