Rent contract with only one persons name, but two people living in the flat

Hi all!
I am coming to Switzerland to work and my boyfriend will join me and try to find a job. My idea was that the apartment rent contract would only be in my name, since I am not sure how long my boyfriend can stay in Switzerland. Now I heard that some landlords might not like that someone who is not the tenant, would spend a lot of time/live in the apartment.
Have any of you had experience on this?
We are moving to zurich.

Itís more likely the local commune would like to know who was living there, rather than just visiting. No worries, if he has an EU passport and has applied for the right permit.

Re: Rent contract with only one persons name, but two people living in the flat

It is a very normal situation. Co-residents which are not actual renter are not named on the contract. When you rent the flat, just say that the occupancy will be two persons. The landlord might need the name, so that it can announce the co-resident to the commune.

Being named and have signed the contract comes with rights and obligations. Neither sure your boyfriend wishes to enter them, and if you actually want to give them him.

For example: All people which have signed the contract are fully liable for the rent and any damages. Not just part of it. In addition the rental contract can only be canceled if all tenants which have signed agree and co-sign the cancellation notice.

You need to announce his arrival to the commune and the real estate agency.
