ASLOCA - Nyon

Have you used them? How did work, call, visit, appointment etc?

I want to go see them but I'm not sure on the format, I get no answer on the phone so far, they don't do email and the website is pretty lacking in any detail. Not sure if i just drop by during the permanence hours or I need to book it.

My memory is rubbish, i was there about 5 years ago but i forget what we did.

Re: ASLOCA - Nyon

Were you able to visit them and get your things done?

I'm unable to even register on the site, it gives some error about the registration form being broken..
And their offices are still closed due to current situation.

Re: ASLOCA - Nyon

I know that they do some good work and sometimes the threat of having them onside will help you .. Just set your expectations, they don't work magic, they just basically tell you the law..

In my experience, twice, they basically handed me photocopies of template letters, i still had to complete these and follow them up and fight them myself, it's not a full service thing.
And something to watch out for is that i first used them in 2016, again some letter templates.. Fast forward to 2019 I used them again, they charged me the 3 missing years of membership for a template letter

The Nyon office looks like a junk shop which has just been burgled and is staffed by a lady and her dog which barks constantly, nearly as much as she does.. It's not like going to a fancy lawyers office.. And you need pretty decent FR or she shouts a bit more

And yeah. the site was broken when i wrote my original post here, she only takes bookings by phone.. Each time i've been in the office, multiple people have come to the door to be shouted at (by her and the dog) to make an appointment by phone.

But should you join -- of course you should..

Re: ASLOCA - Nyon

I have had no experience with Nyon but some points in general:

Local ASLOCA/Mieterverband are set up by local Swiss. If you do cannot communicate well in one of the official (local?) languages, service may be difficult.

The yearly fee is equivalent to one really good meal out with wine.
With this sort of funding they are going to be limited in their services. I am not what other sources of funding they have.
