Guidance to Homagate

It's quite obvious that this advertisement is a scam https://www.homegate.ch/rent/3000164664

Why there are so much suspicious posts in the Homegate? What's the point?

Re: Guidance to Homagate

I would be very appreciative of any advice on how to do not waste time renting out an apartment in Zurich. Thanks a lot

P.S. Didn't found a way how to edit the previous post, sorry

Re: Guidance to Homagate

If people are so dumb to fall for this specific scam they should get a financial caretaker.

As for OP: Pay nothing upfront and any payments like security should be going into an account in your name, every fraud will drop interest in you when it is clear you'll not be giving them money.

Well, if you want to rent out a flat, just place a proper ad, right?

When you see an ad you're sure is a scam, scroll past it. Pondering why the world is so bad on EF is definitely not saving time - nor changing the fact.

You could also report the add to homegate.
hth.

They actually understate , calling the lake a river.

Curious if it is coincidence or if he is on purpose using old photo's to separate people with an IQ under 90 from the rest of the population since those are more willing to pay.

Who he?

My IQ must be under 90 - what old photos? My landlord still uses the photos from 1993 when advertising because believe it or not, the flats are still architecturally the same.

???

Since it is 8038 they clearly refer to the Sihl and the Vita parcours on Entlisberg (both are next to each other)

The apartment is according to the text renovated in 2016, yet the oldest source of the living room picture still to be found on the web is the picture which already appears in an article from 2013 which is about rental scams. (bonus points for originality)

https://www.beobachter.ch/konsum/kon...x-zu-vermieten

The least somebody should do to check when in doubt about if an offer is real (which should happen here, since it is ridiculously cheap, even my single room in 8038 costed more some yrs ago) is do a search on the pictures that are being used. And off course more should be checked but checking the pictures is quickly and easily done.

Here we have now already the combination of a ridiculously low price and fake pictures, no need to check further. This is a scam.

Why is this obviously scam?

The ad seems rather unprofessional and if there is really a jacuzzi in there, I wouldn't expect anything more than cheapest thing on sale from nearest german baumarkt, which is probably why they are too shy to show a picture. But the rent is in principle believable: 1600+NK is say, 1800 gross / 65m^2 = 28 Fr/m^2 gross is reasonable for an Altbau in Zurich.

If you read the posts between your post and the original one, you'll find out.
