Renting a studio for 9 months - advice

I am looking for a studio at Lausanne for 9 months, as a third residence place just to sleep a few days per week during 9 months. I probed a few announcements on internet. All of them ask to sign a contract of at least one year, if I leave before one year, then I have to find appropriate tenant to take over.

My question: is it a good idea to tell them that I am only renting for 9 months? I mean, I imagine they would like tenants for a longer run and telling them I am only for 9m might impact my chance? Or I just don't tell and resign the contract after 9 months and find the next tenant (I guess it would not be difficult?)? What is the better strategy here?

Thanks!

it might be easier to sublet a room or ask specifically for 9 months just in case somebody has a limited rental offering. i doubt most landlords would take on somebody knowing they would leave in 9 months.

What about trying airBnB? Might be a bit expensive, but if you told them you wanted it for 9 months solid they might do a decent price?

Thanks. I checked Airbnb and now I think it might be just easier if I go to an hotel. After all it is only to sleep 3-4 night per week during 6-9 months excluding vacations (I don't even know the exact duration which is to be determined but min 6 mo max 9 mo).

At hotel I can quit whenever I want, do not have to deal with like electricity, tv, cleaning, rent deposit, l'état de lieu... Much simpler.

Some landlords may be happy with a nine month rent as it's still income for them. They may ask for a slightly higher rent but it's always negotiable. Just be upfront and ask.

it's worth asking as sometimes people want a limited time tenant so it can be a win-win.

Colocation?

When I shared a flat those kind of arrangements where my favorite. The colocataire that stayed only 3 nights a week was such a nice gentleman. Payed the room, did not actually live there
