Geneva: is it a good idea to sublet my appartment via Airbnb? &security deposit?

I wish to sublet my appartment for 2-3 months in Geneva, would be grateful to have your opinions
1. is it a good idea to do it via AirBNB? If I am lucky I can have tenant with references, instead of no reference at all via other platforms. I have quite some good references on Airbnb but only as tenant/guest.

2.I noticed that on Airbnb I can activate the "Security deposit", is it a good idea? and how much I shall put? I guess if I do like the regie, 3 X monthly rent then nobody would take it...I have furnitures, home appliances and some personal items in the appartment.

I think the first thing you should do is to read your lease. You may not be allowed to sublet, or only be allowed under certain conditions.

Subletting is always allowed as long as it is not abusive, fair priced and all such a landlord cannot forbid it.

And you need to inform landlord ahead and let them know who the person is. So Airbnb may not be possible.

Whatever it is, do have a contract in writing. Might be worth using a similar copy to the one you have with your landlord. I took a lodger for a couple of months, but even there I covered myself for damages, insisted on having a copy of their civil liability insurance etc., set out rules about not smoking inside the house, keeping room aired and tidy (and that's with me living on site!)...

Airbnb in Geneva
Like many cities where Airbnb is popular, Geneva has a severe rental shortage, with a vacancy rate of 0.45%. The most popular type of Airbnb listing: "Entire home/apartment" listings (which make up two thirds of Airbnb listings in Geneva), when they are rented frequently remove housing normally available to city residents.

The Law

The Conseil d'Etat wrote in 2014 their understanding that if Airbnb and other short-term rentals were being offered from the housing market, this would be in violation of the LDTR Act, which defines allowable Demolitions, Transformations and Renovations to housing:

In addition, subsidised tenants would also not be allowed to offer housing to tourists with Airbnb, or other short-term rental platforms, and market tenants would need their landlord's approval, at the danger of eviction:

A conservative occupancy model has been built in order to estimate Occupancy Rates, Income per Month and Nights per Year. More information on the methodolgy of the occupancy model can be found in the disclaimers.

Inside Airbnb: Geneva uses the following parameters:

A high availability metric and filter of 60 days per year
A frequently rented filter of 60 days per year
A review rate of 50% for the number of guests making a booking who leave a review
An average booking of 3 nights unless a higher minimum nights is configured for a listing.
A maximum occupancy rate of 70% to ensure the occupancy model does not produce artifically high results based on the available data
