What are my rights am I being ripped off

Hi everyone.

I live in brisfelden Basel and I have a nice little studio apartment.
The cost of this is 1350CHF with WiFi and bills included fully furnished.

I like the area I live in and my landlord and I are somewhat friends.
I have a few issues with my apartment the previous person living here was very very very bad at looking after it. The apartment has marks on the walls and doors.

I didnít notice these till I moved in. I can see stains from Greece under my kitchen units I am a very proud man I care about my apartment i didnít notice these till I moved in and saw them.

What can I do because it really bothers me

How did the stains get there all the way from Greece?

I know you're proud but can you not just clean it?

When did you move in? Normally you receive paperwork from the landlord where you mark down any problems you find after moving in so that it's all documented and not charged to you later when you leave.

Re: What are my rights am I being ripped off

1) Wrong title
2) Greece is a country
3) - and in fact the only comment I mean entirely seriously: You talked to the landlord about it? Seems not!

And now excuse me, while I grab a cold one.

Re: What are my rights am I being ripped off

1. Are they mentioned in the take-over forms?
2. Did you sign forms that the things you mentioned are in good condition?

Q1 - Yes = Not your problem.
Q2 - Yes = Your problem.

If you don't know what you signed than nobody here can answer your questions.

As for them being nice people. Here a reminder:

You signed a business agreement, not a friendship declaration.

Re: What are my rights am I being ripped off

Hi Justin, you're back again.

Adding all your threads together, it seems you're in a very difficult and anxious overall situation/phase/circumstances. I do hope that you'll be able to connect with someone who can help you with translation/interpretation, and/or just show you around a bit, have a chat, perhaps a private person or that you'll find social contacts or help or support in one of the many groups, organisations and advice centres that have been recommended to you.

Here's another one:
Mieterverband, which is the tenants' association.
https://www.mieterverband.ch/mv-bs.html
They offer free legal advice to their members, and one can join on the same day as you go along for the advice.

In this particular case, though, about your flat, either clean it yourself or ask your landlord to have it cleaned (which latter will work only if you've moved in very recently).

Sorry you have a hard time socially but are just going to have to deal with situations like this head-on by either cleaning the marks/dirt/grease yourself or if that fails and it still bothers you then by politely speaking to your landlord in a non-confrontational way. It was your landlords duty to ensure you moved into a clean apartment.

If you explain in more detail the nature of the marks, dirt and grease then maybe people can suggest ways to effectively clean it.

You should have noticed the dirt before you moved in. It's not hidden, from the sounds of it, so there is nothing you can do except try cleaning the walls very gently with a white sponge. These are available at the grocery store.

This may also work on the grease, depending on the surface.

Magic eraser solves all! (If that is what you mean, rather than just an ordinary sponge?) They are sold under various brands here and both Lidl and Aldi have them. Search also for Ďmelamine foamí as that is what they are actually made of.
