Living around Zürich

Hi,

I'm looking for places to live around Zürich. I'll be moving in May this year and my company is paying for a relocation company to get me a house.
In the meantime I'm looking for houses myself to make an alternative list of places that I like.

My limit is 2000 CHF per month while my girlfriend doesn't find a job and I'm paying for everything myself. When she starts to work I'll look for a better place.

I created this thread because I'm trying to find good places to live around Zürich which have a commute time to Tüffenwies of around 1 hour max.

Since I lived all my life in the city I'm trying to find places that are more surrounded by nature. I don't mind the extra commuting time. Anything from a small traditional town or a place where I can live closer to the mountains would be nice.

I'm asking because I don't know the surrounding area. I already did some Google Maps work but it's hard with so many places.

Any ideas?

My employer is also contributing to my travel pass so something where I can use ZVV Pass or Z-Pass would be nice.

Welcome to the forum and soon to Switzerland.

The amount you state is a bit low in CH for a house, a flat is feasible.

Have a look at the SBB (SBB.ch) site to see how the connections are and work your way from there?

Yes I know that 2000 CHF is not too much but I forgot to mention. My idea is not to live in a private house. This budget won't allow me that. I'm open to live in a apartment.

I'm just looking for places that are less crowded and closer to nature. I like to hike and to ride my bike.

Re: Living around Zürich

Wädenswil looks nice but being so close to the lake makes houses expensive. For 2000 CHF I can’t find any “modern” apartments.

What I noticed is that if I switch to Aargau canton houses get cheaper and I can get 3.5 rooms apartments for this price. I just don’t know the area well enough to know which places are nice.

I saw Brugg and with the river and old town looks really nice. Any other villages with the same feeling?

Welcome. Just in case you don't already have it, here's the public transport website in English, with the route map.

Best you look in Oberenstringen or Weiningen Zürich. 10min to Tuffenwies.

PS Villages dont exist in Zurich region.
