You keep talking about bids...in many cases there is no bidding process. Thereís an asking price and you either pay it or make an offer. If you pay the asking price, mostly thatís that. If you make an offer that is lower, the owner can take time to decide.

We made an offer on a house and were then told someone had offered more. We asked if we could make a counter-offer and were told no! So, itís not always about getting the most money...although I find that very strange, but I lie not. That is what happened...
A seller wants a smooth sale too. Someone comes in and offers the requested price is viewed more favourably than someone who offers a lower price (who may be viewed as less reliable).

Housing process here is stressful, but from experience with several heart breaks just keep at it and you'll find a place that makes you happy.
