Have all kitchen appliances controlled before moving?

Hi all, I have read many of the threads, but I could not find this addressed anywhere, or elsewhere on the internet.

We are just about to move out of an apartment in Lausanne. It's quite old, and when they were doing the handover to us four years ago, they didn't seem to do a very careful job of inspecting the previous tenant's cleaning. However, we are of course trying to be as rigorous as possible to avoid any potential issues.

I just found this part in the contract that says
Le locataire effectuera lors de son depart une revision de tous les appareils menagers existants et reserves de usage exclusif de l'appartement. Il presentera lors de l'etat de lieux une facture justifiant ces controles.
I find this very strange - who would I ask to do this? How much would it cost? What would happen if I don't do it? As I said, Googling I couldn't find any other examples of this, despite how many websites exist about moving out etc. There is a gas oven, and a tiny fridge, and a fan - that's all I can think of. They're old, but they all work.

Any advice would be appreciated. I tried contacting the agency, but I won't be able to get hold of them until Monday.

Well, if you signed it you agreed it. Ask the Regie what they expect you to do. If it sounds unreasonable then contact ASLOCA

Any inspection, especially if the appliances are old, are down to the landlord, not the tenant. They ask you to do it, and present a bill. It does not say you have to pay it! It really is down to him and he should do it anyway before the next tenant moves in.

Just wait and discuss it with the agency on Monday and let us know their reply. Will advise from there.
