Attestation de non-poursuite [New to Suisse]

Hiya,

I started looking for apartments in Flatfox and the like. I've seen that among the required documents to express interest there's one related to not having any debts.

Is this something required even for people who never lived in Switzerland before?

We have a Tax Clearance Certificate in Ireland which certifies that our tax affairs are in order.

Would that suffice if we provide the pertinent clarifications?

Many thanks for your help, as always

Don't worry about non-Swiss forms, just get the one from the canton you plan to move to, it's normally an administrative thing where you pay X francs and get the paperwork in return.

You need a Swiss address and ID card / permit to get the attestation.. So it's not really possible to get one from abroad..

But it's normal to not have one for the fist house / flat.. Normally a letter from your employer will suffice, "Bob works for us, his salary is this and it's a permanent contract"

Mmmmmh if OP is moving in one of the big cities the competition is quite high for apartments and a dossier missing the porsuites (or any other standard document like the last 3 payslips/letter from employer, passport, etc) often is not even taken into consideration.

Personally .. I need to get one of these every year for work .. Every time I go to the office, they want my ID.. Which is either a Swiss ID card or a residence permit, which confirms your address.

Maybe somebody knows other wise but I don't see anyway to get the doc unless you at least exist here.

In Vaud you can get one on-line but you need a Vaud address and a copy of your permit. I expect every Regie (rental agent) will understand why you can’t provide one.

18f on-line, f17 at the counter.

Re: Attestation de non-poursuite [New to Suisse]

Thank you again for your help.

I'm looking for apartments in Vaud and Geneve and I've found that both cantons offer the possibility of getting those certificates on line.

In the case of Vaud the following seems valid for people who already have a contract signed with an employer:
Il est possible pour une personne résidant à l'étranger et ayant une activité professionnelle en Suisse d'obtenir un extrait du registre des poursuites auprès de l'office dont relève son employeur (soit selon le siège social ou le domicile de l’employeur).source
As for the ID requirements of Vaud, seems that a passport should suffice:
Vous devez joindre une copie de votre pièce d'identité : passeport, carte d'identité ou permis pour étranger.source
So I guess the order of paperwork would be:
Sign contract with employer -> Attestation de non-poursuite -> Rent apartment for 1yr or more -> Register with the canton to get B-Permit.
