| | Skeleton keys
Our interior doors all have Skeleton keys. Each key has a number stamped on it.
Over the years a few of these keys have gone missing and I would like to replace them.
Before I start dismantling them does anyone know if the key number is also stamped on the locks?
Many thanks in advance

Isn't the purpose of a true skeleton key that it works in any lock?
There are only as many profiles. http://www.asel.ch/contents/de/d120_Schluessel.html
In my doors the corresponding number is also punched in on the side of the door lock where the bolt and latch comes out.

Many thanks in advance | | | | | I think you mean a so-called "Buntbartschüssel" if you take a look into the lock you can see the fitting form, mostly in a letter S, Z, I, L, C etc. or number form 1, 2, 7, 5 with that most lock smiths can supply you with the correct key.

Thanks, there are only two words on my strikeplate KIMA at the top and HUGA at the bottom.
No key numbers like on the keys.

OP, try the keys you still have on the locks. You might find out they fit = you'll have a sample.

Remove the lock and bring it to your local hardware store/locksmith.
You can also find charts on internet for all of the available locks/keys.
