Put a lid on it- the other one is broken

Wondering if anyone would know the "ball park" figure of getting a new roof for a house?

Also if bells and whistles were involved, a solar panel might also be nice to have.

Very difficult to say because it depends on whether you need just new roof tiles or whether the wood underneath also needs replacing. Then the topic of insulation might come up.

Also, depending on the current material there could be extra costs for handling the old materials, plus extra costs to remove and dispose it.

Not all companies have their own scaffolding (assuming you need this) so this is often shown as a separate cost.

Any company providing a quote should inspect the roof.

Since we do not know any of the specifics of the house (age etc.) we can only talk in generalities.

If you are re-doing the roof the range of what can be done / needs to be done can vary widely. If you are going to put on new tiles (normally only needs to be done after 40+ years) you would take advantage and add/replace insulation so it is insulated as well as possible. In CH I find that they do not put as much insulation as they could. Not only for the cold but also for the summer heat (depending on where you are in the country this is becoming more important). Insulation technology and product availability has improved immensely in the last 40 years.

In any event it is recommended to do the insulation as a first step before installing solar panels.

As mentioned, it is very important to have a thorough inspection of the roof to understand if there are issues with the joists, rot, mould etc. which will have a major impact on the repair cost. Correct vapour barriers are also very important.

Depending on the age of the house and the canton, there may be some tax or other advantages to re-doing the roof. Have a look.

This is one job where I would recommend engaging an Architect to study what is there, what is required, what is possible and draw/write a specification for the work. It could be insulating in one area might cause humidity and dampness in others. One way or another you will pay for this anyway as the roofer (Dachdecker) will need time to do this as part of their offer and add it to the quote. If you have a specification then you are sure you are comparing apples with apples on offers and seen as serious so will more likely get a better offer. Most roofers have scaffold and I would not consider one without it, quite often regardless of the work it is cheaper to get scaffolding from a roofer than a scaffolding company.

Finding a decent, reasonably priced Architect won't be easy.

For solar panels PV you will be looking at about CHF30,000ish for 9 to 10 kWhpeak.

I do not know if Tesla rook tiles are availabe here yet, but that would be well worth investigating with a reroofing...
