| | How to buy furniture without a car?
I want to buy furniture, and thinking about buying from people on Facebook. I don't drive nor I know anyone in Zurich who does.
How to order a delivery on a chosen route in Zurich?
What cost should I expect for moving a bed or a desk?
Is it more cost-effective to just take everything from IKEA?
Thanks!

Ikea charges you for delivery as well, and even though the quality is good, perhaps for the long term you should look at other options of furniture.
In your case I suggest getting someone to transport for you, and just for transport only they can charge, for instance, 60 fr for a bed. I found a much cheaper option but I live in Geneva, and with him we transported many things like Sofa, bed, etc.
However, you can't expect them to assemble and disassemble, that is an extra service you might do it yourself or pay them extra to. Sometimes the seller is nice enough to disassemble for you.
If it's more cost effective to buy from Ikea, that really depends on the volume and your tastes. I personally only buy small stuff from IKEA and get more bulky items from facebook and Anibis, such as bed and Sofa, which are way cheaper than Ikea. I managed to get a few good things for free.

#Can# you drive ?
You can rent a van from IKEA when you buy something, costs about 90.- ? So can work out quite good if you have a lot and want it now.
Generally hiring a person to move something for you costs 100-150 .. So not always cost effective.

Not sure what your budget is or how much of an issue cost is, but there are quite a few online stores that sell furniture and offer free delivery. A few that I suggest are:
jelmoli-versand.ch
home24.ch
vidaxl.ch
vente-unique.ch
The first two sites have cheap(ish) as well as more expensive furniture, and the last two sites sell primarily more affordable stuff (but some of it is fairly decent). But I'm pretty sure they all have free shipping.
Sorry I couldn't be of much help with your original questions, though.

Here are some tips from a similar thread, and the link to yet another similar thread: https://www.englishforum.ch/3224780-post18.html
Perhaps some of these ideas will help you.

All of these ideas are sadly not available to me, as I'm managing this from outside Switzerland and will be quarantined when I come back.
I asked primarily: | Quote: | | | | How to order a delivery on a chosen route in Zurich? | | | | |
@Pancakes: Thanks for the links! vente-unique.ch sounds good, the first two are more expensive than IKEA for sure.

There are loads of "man with a van" who will do this kind of stuff and charge you by the hour plus km etc. Just google man with a Van and a few threads will come up.

The best course of action:
1. Find a shop.
2. Order furniture(s).
3. Arrange with a shop for transport or rent their delivery van (IKEA).
If you buy second hand goods then you will almost always rely on good will of seller to deliver them either free or upon charge.

| | | | | I get the feeling that so much second hand furniture is cheap because people selling are unable to get it much further than the front door, and the buyers are limited in not having transport. If you have a van you can get steals on good furniture fairly often.

Facebook groups ("<location> buy and sell" sort) often have people offering this kind of services.
Usually though I guess you would go with the driver to pickup the content - I suppose you would need to find one willing to also do the carrying + delivery without you being around.

Hi the big second hand shops that are called Broki (in german areas)usually offer delivery at a charge but it is reasonable.
Sometimes it is worth getting something of high quality for a low price on ricardo or tutti and pay for 2 men and a van. about 140 per hour.
So the item and delivery might end up being the same costs however you could never get the level of quality otherwise.
you can sign up and rent a van from mobility.

There are plenty of companies that offer this type of transport service. You can get quick online quotes, here https://www.helvetiatransporte.ch/sp...firma-zuerich/ or here https://www.transporttaxi-regensdorf.ch/. They are either "man with a van" or moving companies, that also offer transport services.
I'm buying a used treadmill, and I'm hiring one such firm like these.

Right now IKEA has an offer for ‘two hrs free car hire’, if you purchase for at least 500chf.
To access the offer you will need to sign up for the Ikea family club. (It’s free to sign up).
The offer ends on the 23rd of October, I think.
