| | Garage door price and recommendation
Does anyone have a recent experience with automatic garage door installation? Any recommendation in Zurich region?
The best quote I've seen so far is ~8k, so I wonder if it's possible to find something cheaper.
Thank you.

You could get one from Hornbach in conjunction with a Handyman and an electrician to fit it (and agreed beforehand).
However, whether your 8K is realistic depends on the door you want, the electric cable runs needed, building work required and so on.
8K doesn't go very far in this country if you want something done.

Seems expensive, but I guess this is Switzerland. If you're handy, it's quite possible to install yourself.

I don't suppose you have some door specs for size/opening mechanism and the likes?
I would have hoped the cost would be less for repairing the existing installation seeing as the wiring and the likes is already there and it could just be some part swaps.

What exactly is broken, and why can't you simply fix it?

Tom | | | | | OK true but it gives a lot more context and the threads are about the same thing, so it would be better if the details (including photos!) are posted in one place.

I paid 4.3k to convert two manual garage doors to automatic with 3 fobs and and a keypad. The company is based somewhere near Rapperswil. I thought it was expensive at the time, but apparently the doors were non-standard sizes and needed additional work.

Even with me shrill bidding they sold for £50.

You certainly pay a premium for being in Switzerland.
