Home Appliance Assistance - Question

Good evening everyone,

Switzerland's never fails to surprise me!

Recently, I contacted LG to assist me with a problem on a home appliance (washing machine). The support team told me to contact the local Home Appliance Assistance company that was authorized to service the equipment. I proceeded to book the service a few days later.

The technician came to my house, looked at the washing machine for 2 minutes and said there was nothing he could do (he couldn't source the spare part in Switzerland). He then told me I owed him 150 francs, for the service. I said I had received no service, he then tried to convince me to buy a new washing machine for 2000 francs (and that he would be kind enough to discount the visit if I bought it ) .

Obviously, I didn't buy the new washing machine from him. I managed to find the spare part for 40 francs abroad and shipped to my house so I could fix it myself. In the end they still invoiced me 150 francs (with my name misspelt ). Is there any way I can challenge that payment?

Thanks in advance for your help

I wouldn't think so. Seems a little high, but you called them out, they came, so although he couldn't help there's still going to be a good hour to charge. Pretty sure this would not be much different, apart from the office, in most other countries.

I had a similar thing, when I was away and one of my tenants' dishwasher was leaking all over the place. Technician came but couldn't fix it, just isolated the water supply. When I looked at it the next day if was simply a foreign body blocking the outlet valve - thirty second job. I won't use that guy again, but yeah, I had to pay the callout fee, which was just a bit lower than yours.
