Overlap renting (housing geneve)

Hello Everybody

I have a quick question regarding moving out

I am currently renting a flat with a flatmate and I have found a new flat to move out on 1st Dec (all papers signed and ready to move in the new flat)

however, my current flatmate needs more time to find a flat and he wants to keep the flat for the month of December.

my question is : can I stay with him on the contract for the month of December, while I have a new flat (and a new contract). Is it possible to stay under two contract for 2 flats ? should I inform the real estate agency ?

many thanks for you help!!

have a great week end
ZING

I don't think there's anything illegal with it. However do make sure your contract does not prevent you to terminate it in December, which is very common in Switzerland.
