Seasonal Rentals (ie. Mountains for the Winter)

Is there a site or term for something like a seasonal rental for some flat in the Alps near some ski slopes?

We're WFH for the foreseeable future, and I think it could be an awesome time to grab a flat that I could ski out of during the day and work at night.

I've seen regular year long leases before, but I'd be looking just for a few months.

Also, something that would let a cat stay too, would be a hard requirement.

One can dream I don't even know where to start looking, the only place that made a bit of sense was AirBNB for long term rentals... but maybe there is something more local and with more selection.

Re: Seasonal Rentals (ie. Mountains for the Winter)

This year might be your best chance as seasonal rentors are going to find it difficult to rent to incoming tourists on a weekly basis. But most are furnished and probably would not want a cat who is likely to scratch furniture and fittings.

Interhome is a good site, or the local paper of the location you are thinking of, or the Tourist Office.

Yeah, I know with the cat it'd be tricky until they potentially met this furry meatball, only reason I'd feel comfortable taking her because she simply doesn't scratch furniture.

Interhome, I didn't know about that one! Thanks!

and here's one in Fiesch (Aletsch Arena) https://www.aletscharena.ch/destinat...ticleid=1-6-ky

just lost my previous post while editing.... so here it is again:

search for "saisonmiete, dauermiete" preceded by your resort of choice.

Zermatt: https://ztnet.ch/wohnungen be aware that in Firefox this returns a blank page, but it works in Safari. Täsch is close to Zermatt, 10min train ride and lots of seasonal worker tend to rent there because it's cheaper than Zermatt
Saas-Fee https://www.saas-fee.ch/en/dauermieter
Some Gemeindeverwaltungen have their own pages for seasonal workers you could try.

Make sure your cat is chipped, just in case it's itching to go exploring while your back is turned.

I'm adding the rest of your response which seems to have disappeared:

Make sure your cat doesn't run off. I imagine you've got it chipped?

Thank you! These are great.

The cat is chipped (she only goes outside "on vacation" when she stays with friends in Jura). Her natural habitat is a cardboard box (the older the better) in the sunshine (she's 12, quite a mellow beast, unless she's hungry).

Sounds familiar. I might have a spare old box if you need it.

Hope you'll find something suitable for yourself too.

Re: Seasonal Rentals (ie. Mountains for the Winter)

I would suggest you simply contact owners on all the usual holiday websites and put your proposal forward. People often ask me if I am willing to rent for a season (I am not), but many are. There's a very good chance someone will be interested ... cat or not.

Perhaps try reka.ch, the orgnisation behind the REKA cheques. They're a not-for profit cooperation, prices are usually attractive. It's probably best to mail them. However Xmas/New Year and the first half of February will probably be difficult as that's the busiest time in winter.

Actually so far I have had tons more enquiries, for stays of multiple weeks/months. Everyone seems to be having the same idea as the OP.

Not many are serious enquiries though, and most are asking about a long stay discount.
