Housing issue for family reunification

Hi,

I am a PhD student at EPFL.
My wife is recently applying for a visa for family reunification.
Now I am living in a studio, and I see one of the regulations for receiving a residence permit is first we need to have an appropriate living space.
Is a studio okay since only me and my wife is going live together?

Thanks

Re: Housing issue for family reunification

You should go to population service at duflon and they will tell you clearly whatís required.
During couple months (years ago) you could take an apartment (like Airbnb) with the owner authorization to register yourself and you wife and then move to a permanent apartment ....

However the best itís to go there or write to them. They are very efficient.

Hope that helps

Another thing to check is if the landlord allows you to add another person to the tennancy agreement. Some studios allow couples, but not all.

According to the law, a landlord cannot stop your partner moving in.

And even the space requirements don't apply to couples.

You don't have to add them to the agreement, but the landlord may increase nebenkosten (NOT rent) by a reasonable amount for extra utility costs.

Perhaps, but there are minimum requirements for foreigners (though perhaps not for those with C permits).
