Few years ago they removed my thyroid b/c of cancer they found and told me that my chronic sweating will cease with that - now it's worse than ever before. I can stand, make a few steps, stop, and will just pour for several minutes. Yes, I'm in medicine induced hyperthyroidism in order to ensure cancer is gone.

...
For me, every day is the towel day. Yes, I do carry towel on me, started again a few weeks ago as temperatures went up (Berlin). So amount of towel laundry will go up.
Hey, blacky, I'm sorry to read about that. It sounds like a certain level of hell, since your condition is inescapable and, from what you say, there's nothing you (or anyone else) can do to improve it. That's a huge amount of extra work and management (and laundry) that you have, that most people don't. Well, I think you're to be admired, that you are still facing it all, and now I understand your questions on this thread much better.

Whew, I think that if I had to deal with such quantities of laundry, I'd be tempted to consider trying to outsource the washing, just so I didn't have to even think about it again. Of course, it's also a matter of costs (not low!). Of course, I don't know whether that might be an option for you, but just in case, here are links to a few services:

Re: Washing machine installation

For those on this thread who have decided that some people are doing too much laundry and are writing in such a way to make people feel they need to write about their medical problems and give a list of what they wash:

Please could these people provide a comprehensive list of what they eat every day so I can go through it and decide whether or not they are eating too much.

If they are eating more than they should, as well as the problems of obesity, they will also be producing more excreted waste which will need flushing - which of course uses more water that the other tenants will ultimately be paying for.

Blacky - you do not need to justify your laundry needs to a load of bored nosy people on this forum.

LOL I didn't expect being judged as wasteful because I dare to wash my things. What a crazy forum this really is.
Haha, you noticed. It was about time. It's like the Eurovision song contest, we know it's weird but we still stick around to see the next round.

So, hear the details.

No, I cannot reuse, consider yourself lucky if you can.
Most people cannot reuse or don't want to, nothing to feel ashamed of. What I do to limit the waste is to use short programme cycles when possible. And I'd love to dry them in the sun but not possible in my uptight neighbourhood.

Maybe some people have bigger families? Or do more sport? Or are less smelly?
Plenty of smelly people in CH, some people hang up their clothes to air rather than wash them.

Not really surprising if some of them only have access to a washing machine once every fortnight.

Amount of sweat yeah, definitely hellish.
Before OP I was sweating a lot, like, noticably more than folks around me, but no one had ideas why is that, so you know, you just accept it and work around it. Not head though unless I'd do some significant physical work.

Now, I'm like a fountain. That expression is funny only when I'm freshly from the shower and sitting on my laptop, not when I'm on the verge of killing someone because of all that sweat that goes into my eyes despite headband

Actually, before this topic I never considered amount of laundry we have as something extraordinary. I mean, it's there, you do it, I don't spend time thinking about laundry. Goal is to give it as little thought as possible.

But that 'one communal machine, once biweekly' I've mentioned I've stumbled upon earlier definitely made me count my washes and checking if the idea would work for me, and my definite conclusion is that it wouldn't work for me (unless it's basically a shared laundromat).

I prefer lazy approach with washing, one-two per day, and not going up & down every 30 minutes even if I'd have big enough time slot for everything and that much free time (can't imagine how many showers I'd need that day, and probably at least one more towel load )

Nah, I think it'd be just nice to not be spit on.

I know people think many things, I just think it's basic politeness not to write everything you thought about - if it's not helpful, save it. Or write and close the window. Helps.

Behind every screen is a person and you don't know their story.
And I shared just a part of medical reasons (and only mine). I have big folder and I haven't reached 40 yet

LOL thanks for links Yeah, it's insanely expensive.
Washing machine in my flat works fine
I quietly hope for finding a flat where one set would landlord provide and there would be enough space for my set

Re: Washing machine installation

my one runs often for 8h a day ...every day for years
I was happy camper until I had to learn that white and red don't go together as well yellow and black ... and from once-a-week laundry day it's not to what's-the-colour-for-today days ... oh boy ... the joy of knowing more

Re: Washing machine installation

Years ago I knew someone who changed clothes often enough, but wore the same colour for a whole week. He had "all blues", "all greens" and "all browns, oranges and reds", and rotated them, each colour for one week, and each week's laundry gave him a full load or, if he'd been very busy with a lot of activities, two loads.

We all thought he was nuts, but he always looked good the way he was dressed, and he said it simplified his life so much: clothes shopping, choosing what to wear each day, doing the laundry loads, and keeping order in his cupboards.

Such approach definitely simplifies life. Can recommend

I have several pairs of the same jeans in blueish long legs, and several 3/4 legs in black. For top, probably like 30-40 same Tshirts in black, red, violet, few green and blue. I mix when putting them on chair, and just take whichever comes up first when I need them. I only skip red+blue jeans combo.
I don't look good IMO, but I don't look bad either, so that's good

SO currently wears just black Tshirt + light gray jeans.

For 'outside' outfit.

Underwear is also black/dark so at least I don't have additional issue with sorting by color for clothes, I have just towels, kitchen towels and clothes heaps to collect.

@hoover1 red can go with white, but not immediately, you need to wash it alone or with dark stuff for some time. I have few red and black kitchen towels (cotton) which I put together with white kitchen towels on 90, and zero issues
Also, for making quilts (cotton of different weave) it's highly recommended to prewash reds and blacks if you want to use white / very light colors with them.
Polyester shouldn't make any issue. Mix cotton/poly should be also pretty stable, so let's say one wash would be enough?

Cotton and other all natural fibers - wash them several rounds alone + use those color catcher tissues.
And if you're nervous, put color catcher in the first load when you mix with other colors. When I'm lazy, I just use color catchers, but like 5-7 of them.
