Short-term service apartment for one year

Due to my family/job I might have to change house with maximum three months notice. So I would like to avoid taking a one year or longer contract and look for tenants if I need to change apartment even if this means I have to pay more for the rental.

My question is if as a permit B holder I can change my address to a service apartment for half-year or one year? I ask just to be sure because I know AirBnb is not ok.

Why is AirBnB not okay? People often register with an AirBnB place upon arrival so they have an address for the permit. Then once here they can can find their feet and hunt for a longer-term flat.

You might find a sublet to be worthwhile if you prefer a shorter term.

You need to check with the cantonal migration office whether an AirBnB would be acceptable or not. And a serviced apartment too, though I think they'd be more easily accepted. The main thing is to be able to put your name on the post box so your new permit (yes, you'll get one with a change of address - and the bill for it of course) can be sent to you.

I changed address once in the same canton, announced and payed the tax at the Postal Office, registered the lease contract with the local municipality but didn't knew that I need to contact also migration office and get a new permit. It's a bit counterintuitive. Hope I will not get fined because of this.

Will ask about them also about renting a serviced apartment especially that I want to move in a neighbouring canton.
