| I know it's tradition to provide 3 recent payslips in your rent file, but there's so much private information on my payslips that I have to blackout alot of information. I asked my colleagues, and they say it's okay.
I also know that landlords would normally choose the candidate with the highest net salary.
But my question is, how do the landlord actually going to verify said information on the payslip? What's stopping anyone to just edit a slightly higher number on the "net salary" to "increase their chances of getting accepted", given that there are so much document editor software available?
Also, is your payslip really private at all? | |

Neither was true in my case. Landlord never asked the candidates for payslips and I know I was definitely not the highest paid applicant, as people around me were chatting to each other asking what they do, and I remember there being a doctor, lawyer, professor at ETH and I know I am way below their salaries but still got the apartment. Oh, and everyone was Swiss except for me.
I did ask HR from my company to issue a letter that I am 100% employed with an open contract, which I submitted.
Now knowing my landlord really well, of course he chooses someone who is employed, but he values the character of the applicant the most. He told me later on he tries to choose people who he feels will be harmonious neighbours. Been living at this place for almost 9 years and we've had some new people but all of us have always gotten along and we have a very friendly building. Our landlord is choosing well
Changing figures in your payslip?? I agree with what everyone else has said.
