| | Possible to change doorbell in apartment building?
Hi there,
We have probably the worst doorbell I have ever heard...it sounds a bit like an alarm/siren & has even caused my colleagues to jump when they hear it on my video meetings from home.
I am not technically experienced in any way...but is it possible to change this in my apartment only? Or does it usually run through the main system? I am sure I won't be able to get my landlord to change it ...
Thanks! |

Thanks! | | | | | I've done it in several apartments. Even Coop Bau&Hobb sells them.

Depends on the system.
I had an old system which was just a bell/buzzer and no intercom/unlock function, you could take it off and wire whatever kind of bell you'd like.
Currently there's a new system installed which includes the ability to turn the volume up or down as well as change the jingle. It's all one unit though so no separate bell.
Does it have a separate bell/buzzer?

Other option that I've seen the neighbours do is to pack the unit with some sort of cotton wool or foam. I don't know how well that works though.

I can't read the company name on the box, it might be possible that by holding different buttons there might be options. I wouldn't know the age of it though, that looks like quite an old design.
If you can read the company name you might be able to find a spec sheet/instructions for it.
When I say a new system, its one of these things in my spot atm. https://www.kochag.ch/media/Medien/P..._TC60_A4_d.pdf | This user would like to thank Ato for this useful post: | |

There is a picture of it on this page, scroll down to "formschön verpackt", can't be that old then. Call Feller and ask for a manual - or better directly about changing the sound.
(I'd screw it open and check it out first but that's me.)

Instructions are here: https://mam.schneider-electric.com/p...elle7230_d.pdf
It looks like you can change the tone function and volume.
Best of luck.

And independent digging is so much more fun.

The short version of the instructions with how to change the tone is here: https://mam.schneider-electric.com/p...elle7230_d.pdf
I had the same question when I moved in, the default setting was a very loud rendition of the Postauto horn. My dad thought is was the BEST THING EVER. Me, not so much.

Für Elise seems okay, at least it doesn't knock you off the chair. But the thing is, some of this sounds are too long for my liking.

The problem is the outdoor microphone is broken. The only fix seems to be a new system as the current system (Samsung) is not sold anymore. So annoying.
