| | is it normal regie asks me to buy a new activated carbon filter
I will give back my Geneva apartment to the verwaltung/regie soon after <4 years, they asked me to replace the activated carbon filter of the kitchen hood
one of these thingys: https://www.fust.ch/fr/r/cuisine/app...&brand=Siemens
1. is it normal I shall buy a new one or it's their responisbility? Do I have to replace it myself or leave the new filter in the apartment is enough?
2. If I shall buy, are they at least responsible to indicate me the exact product link? I have taken a photo inside of the hood but failed to match the model/refrence numbers of the hood and the filter
Thanks

Thanks | | | | | They can certainly make you pay, you will save a lot of money if you can organise this yourself.

Yes it is normal for you to replace it - these things need to be replaced quite frequently (probably once a year), so it comes under the heading of normal stuff you should do.
Why would they need to indicate the exact product link? You have access to the appliance and therefore the part number, surely you'd be better off finding it yourself online.

personally, I would take out the one from the house, pop it in a bag, head down to FUST and say 'one of these please'.
They certainly should be able to order it in for you if they don't have it in stock...
Alternatively, take a picture of your item/rangehood and send it online to the customer service team of the supplier (ours is pretty much all electrolux and they certainly have problem solved for us easily).

You can also look in the appliance manual for the model number of your hood fan and the part number for the correct filter.
When you attend the apartment handover, you will need to show that the filter is new. Sometimes it is best to just leave it in the box. Do remove the old filter and dispose it.
If you hire a professional cleaning company, they should remove the old one, replace it with the new one you provide, and the property manager will accept this.
4 years is a very long time to use the same filter, even if the outer filters have been regularly washed.

There should be a sticker with the model and serial number on the inside of the hood fan. Perhaps it is only visible after you remove the charcoal filter. Unless someone removed the label when cleaning the appliance it should be there. Sometimes it is near the bulbs, but well hidden.
Otherwise ask the lanlord to tell you the model number and which filter to buy.

Realistically, who needs a manual for an extractor hood - it has an extractor fan and it probably has a light, that's it. And if you don't understand it, Google it same as everyone else does.

I had to replace one in mine recently. I googled the model number and the manufacturer went out of business in 2003. I just stuffed a cheap generic (no carbon) one from Migros in.

I have never thought about ordering this kind of things from Amazon if they are available here |

And since it would quite likely be a Swiss-special model (i.e. a different plug for 100 CHF) the number may be less helpful.
