Friday thread on Thursday

This came up in my Facebook feed, 1207 Geneva, 4170 CHF a month 1970's kitchen & bathroom. How depressing to think this is all you can afford earning 150,000+ CHF a year

Didn't they have green toilets, sinks and baths in the 70-ies?
This way it wasn't even cool back then.

Oh god that looks terrible! I'd love to take a sledgehammer to it all....the first place I was at in CH had a remarkably similar kitchen, never updated since god knows when, landlord making a killing from a terrible flat. That's how it seems to go here especially in the in demand areas.

Re: Friday thread on Thursday

I got some email offers for hotels in Switzerland last week - the bathrooms are pretty much identical.

That's depressing.

Re: Friday thread on Thursday

That's why it's not occupied. They obviously rent high to get cash to redo the kitchen and bathroom.

Or, does the apartment have 6 rooms?

5 rooms, but size in line with kitchen, so a very depressing family home.

No sadness on Friday. Friday thread is supposed to inspire! Or outrage, you are right.

Should I mention poorly produced generics?

Geneva is notorious for unrentable places being rented and fast. There are magnificent and more affordable places outside of the city, I don't really get it.

Where is JohnH, they hit the jackpot.

A good friend always finds fabulous 140m2 plus brand new builds with good views for around 3500 CHF OK the garage spaces are 250 CHF each

I have some relations in Nyon, they pay similar prices

I must admit I was expecting to see something pretty cool, not a dump from hell

I think these places only get rented because people do not have the time to look around. If one looks, you find better, plus there are associations that help out young people or single parents, etc.

I think VD generally is better, though Lausanne places are getting too close, price-wise.

I do not know how to make this more Friday Urs was very good.

Bet the waiting list is fairly short.
And it comes with a microwave!

I'd like to say that I was shocked at the price vs quality of that flat, but since similar dumps - and worse - go for multiple millions around my area, I've become unshockable when it comes to anything having to do with the Swiss real estate market.

Green toilet, green bath, green sink, orange and brown tiles and "smokey lights" and perhaps a Mathmos for the mood.
I remember them well.
