| Hi, a friend of mine sublet a room, was asked to leave, which she did, and she had an agreement from the leaseholder that she would have her deposit paid back to her (all save din a WhatsApp chat). This lease holder is now changing her story and does not want to pay back in full. Is it possible for an individual to open a poursuite against another individual, or is this reserved for business entities? If not what is the best procedure? | |

Yes she can - debt processes apply to any contractual entities, whether they're individuals or companies.
Best procedure would be to send a formal, registered letter demanding the deposit back by date X per the agreement stated in WhatsApp on date X time Y etc etc including a printout, and also stating legal action will be initiated if this doesn't happen.
Either that encourages them to pay up, or puts everything on the right footing to take further steps.
