Putting dishwasher in a new apartment

Hey all. I got an apartment in Zurich that does not have a dishwasher but I would like to put a dishwasher there. I would like to install a dishwasher there, but I am not aware of how the normality is in Switzerland/Zurich. I've heard I can put a dishwasher if I ask (which means probably I wouldn't sound silly) but probably they will increase the rent "even" if I put it myself with my own costs! Is this true? Is it (let's say) normal to ask the landlord (which is a company) if I can install a dishwasher there? Thanks a lot!

They would have no justification for putting up the rent if you install it yourself, IF you install it such that the property can be returned exactly to the previous condition when you leave.

If installing it would mean irreversible change to the kitchen (e.g. inability to put a cupboard back the way it was), you could still agree with the landlord that you will do it but that you can't take the machine with you when you leave.

ps. of course initially ask if they will do it as it's expected / normal in modern properties etc. then maybe offer to go 50/50 on the cost...

It will likely mean that you will use more electricity, but your hot water consumption will decline as well.

If you want the landlord to buy and install dishwasher for you, yes, it's not unreasonable to expect they will increase rent to cover their costs.

If it's going to be your own dishwasher and you will (pay to) install it yourself, there's no reason for them to increase rent.
