Re. Looking for Swiss moving company - Harsch?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have (good or bad?) experience using the moving company Harsch in the Geneva/Lausanne area?

We are looking for a reliable Swiss moving company that can handle international moves (London>Switzerland) and that also has storage facilities in the Lausanne/VD region.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Back in 2012 Harsch moved us from UK to CH and stored our stuff for 3 months while we found a place to stay.. Everything worked perfectly, they dealt with everything from packing to paperwork, it just worked..
My company paid and it cost them around 6-7k ..

Fast forward to 2019 and I contacted them again for a quote to move us just 15km from on village to another, no storage, no packing .. Just a half day move..
They quoted me something like 8k ..

That's inflation eh..

They have a flat-rate then.

No, I would not recommend them. I am convinced that we were massively overcharged the two times we used them (both for handling incoming personal deliveries). We had no choice, they were the preferred customs/shipping handling company for our external shipper - I suspect because they probably charge low that end and then recoup it knowing how they can maximise the cost to the local customer on arrival.

We use Harsch professionally, for high-end furniture/art transports. They do their job well, and visiting their Geneva site it looks organized and everything well packed. However, with their rates I think there are better options for private moves between UK-CH.

Try Whitevanman, they used to go at least once a month to/from UK. Do note with the Brexit they also have become somewhat more expensive due to the additional paperwork/time at the UK border.
